He has been seen by saints and sages of various traditions, such as Paramahansa Yogananda, Lahiri Mahasaya, Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Ramana Maharshi, Nityananda of Ganeshpuri, Anandamayi Ma, Neem Karoli Baba, Sai Baba of Shirdi and many others.

Some of his known manifestations are:

Goraksha Nath: In medieval times, Babaji manifested as Goraksha Nath, the founder of the Nath sect and the author of many scriptures on yoga and tantra. He was a disciple of Matsyendra Nath, who was initiated by Lord Shiva himself. Goraksha Nath was a great adept of Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga. He performed many miracles and had many disciples, such as Guga Chauhan, Jalandhara Nath and Charpati Nath.

Shiva Goraksha Babaji: In modern times, Babaji manifested as Shiva Goraksha Babaji, who enlightened the world with the original Kriya Yoga through his disciple Lahiri Mahasaya in 1861. He also initiated other great masters such as Sri Yukteswar Giri and Swami Pranabananda. He revealed himself to Yogiraj Siddhanath in 1967 at Badrinath in the Himalayas. He sanctioned him to write this book and impart Kriya Yoga to humanity.

Mahavatar Babaji: In 1946, Paramahansa Yogananda published his classic Autobiography of a Yogi, in which he introduced Mahavatar Babaji to the public for the first time. He described him as a deathless avatar who has maintained his physical form for centuries. He met him in 1920 at Ranikhet in the Himalayas. He also mentioned that Babaji had appeared to his guru Sri Yukteswar Giri and his paramguru Lahiri Mahasaya.

Babaji's Teachings

Babaji's teachings are simple and universal. He teaches that all beings are essentially divine and can realize their true nature through meditation and service.
